Today I’m brewing a washed Honduran coffee while talking about retargeting. Let’s jump into it!
We’ll start by defining what retargeting ads are and what they do. Retargeting ads are the ones that follow you around after you leave a website. They often have relevance to other websites you’re visiting or ads you’re clicking on.
The main way that marketers retarget is by putting cookies on your browser. That’s why you’ll often see pop-ups asking you to allow cookies when you visit a webpage.
Marketers can also retarget per particular page that you visit. They can personalize their ads towards what you were looking at or interested in. This increases the likelihood that you will respond to the advertisement, or at least give it a click. The more personalized an ad is, the more we feel like it’s specifically for us (and in this case, it is!).
There are also retargeting ads for people who made it through a website process (like a form or a donation submission), but never completed the process or hit submit. These ads will reconnect with that person and persuade them to finish what they started.
Retargeting ads can be very helpful for any business. They increase conversions, the cost per click (CPM) is generally very low, and can be used in paid or organic advertising. I highly recommend utilizing this tool and seeing where it can take you. Enjoy your retargeting!
