First, let’s start with Freemium HubSpot... and why upgrading to a paid plan may be a good idea.

Did you know you can sign up for a HubSpot account with no upfront fees and no complicated user licenses to divvy out? It’s true - anyone can sign up and gain access to the CRM’s robust sales, marketing, and customer service tools, for FREE, including fan-favorite features such as:

  • Forms
  • Landing page builder
  • Blog maker
  • Email marketing
  • Ad management
  • Live chat

But if HubSpot Free is already so great, why upgrade?

The free version works well for getting started, but if you're growing and want to run more sophisticated sales strategies and marketing campaigns (Account-Based Marketing, anyone?), you’ll need to upgrade.

Consider these scenarios — if one or all of these resonate with you, it might be time to get a paid Hub:

  • You have multiple people managing your sales and marketing efforts, and all of them need access to the same information.
  • You're ready to use HubSpot’s automation features to the fullest. HubSpot Free lets you use only basic email automation and track opens and clicks with Google Analytics. If you want to get more advanced with your email campaigns — like segmenting your lists or building drip campaigns that send emails over time — then you'll need the paid version of HubSpot.

Get a better understanding of how workflows help you make tasks simpler and more efficient with automations. Here’s a HubSpot Knowledge Base article for creating workflows, or set aside some time and take this HubSpot Marketing Software Certification for Understanding Workflows in HubSpot.

Of course, you could just Get In Touch and we can go over your automation questions in a free consultation!

  • You'd like more analytics tools. Free accounts come with a basic Google Analytics integration, but if you want additional tracking tools like Kissmetrics or Mixpanel, they'll cost extra. If you need these kinds of analytics tools badly enough that they make sense for your business, then it might make sense to pay for a paid account instead of buying them separately.
  • You want more control over your website design options. Free accounts have limited design capability available in the Builder tool — mostly just color schemes and fonts. Paid accounts, on the other hand, give you complete control over every aspect of your site design (including layout and imagery).

There are plenty more reasons and scenarios why it would make sense for an upgrade, but it’s also important to remember that none of them are required. If you're 100% OK with your free plan and you’re happy with the results it's bringing in, no one is going to pressure you for an upgrade.

That’s the true value of HubSpot — you pay for what you use and scale as your needs change.

But if you’re ready to use HubSpot to its full potential, then yes, HubSpot can help you do that with a paid Hub (or Hubs).

So let’s go Hub-shopping and look at what comes with the price tag.

Understanding Marketing Hub Pricing

  • Marketing Hub works on a Contact Based Pricing model.

This means that the subscription cost is based on the number of marketing contacts in your system.

Not sure what a “marketing contact” is?

  • Marketing contacts: contacts that are set as marketing will count towards your contact tier. HubSpot tools can market to these contacts. Contacts cannot be set as marketing then non-marketing in the same month.
  • Non-marketing contacts: contacts that are set as non-marketing will not count towards your contact tier. HubSpot tools cannot market to these contacts. Contacts cannot be set as marketing then non-marketing in the same month.

🥜In a nutshell: marketing contacts are contacts you can market to using HubSpot’s tools, eg., you can send regular or automated emails to them or add them to an ads audience.

  • The HubSpot Pricing Tool immediately shows you how much it would cost if you need more than the included number of paid users.

Simply click the up or down arrow in the plan you’re looking into and the price will adjust accordingly.

Here, for example, we’ve adjusted Marketing Hub Pro to 12,000 marketing contacts from the standard inclusion of 2,000 contacts. The cost has changed from $800/mo to $1,249/mo.

As you can see, if you decide to pay annually, you’ll get a 10% discount. Want more info on HubSpot discounts? It’s just a few scrolls below!

Understanding Sales Hub Hub & Service Hub Pricing

  • Sales Hub and Service Hub work on a User Based Pricing model, and the rates for each Sales Hub & Service Hub tier are identical.

User-based pricing means that the subscription cost is based on the number of users in your system. Users can be assigned either paid or free seats within each Hub.

  • Depending on the plan you choose, the a la carte pricing for both Sales Hub and Service Hub follows:

Note: Prices are subject to change. Always consult the HubSpot Pricing page for the most up-to-date rates.

To get a better idea of what each Hub plan includes and how it compares to other Hubs, check out HubSpot’s Product and Services Catalog.

Simply click the arrows to increase or decrease the number of paid users and the price will adjust accordingly.

Here, for example, we’ve adjusted Sales Hub Pro to 10 paid users from the minimum of 5 users and the cost has changed from $450/mo to $900/mo.

🚩Not sure which plan works best for you? Stop second-guessing.

We’ve seen plenty of businesses come to us with way more HubSpot than they need. And we see others who purchase thinking that they have the perfect Hub combination to meet their needs only to learn that they need to go a tier higher to accomplish their goals. Need some help choosing Hubs and tiers? Let’s talk!

Do More, Save More: HubSpot Bundles vs. A La Carte Pricing

You already know that HubSpot offers an array of features designed to help businesses with lead generation, customer retention, and increased ROI.

However, when you purchase HubSpot Hubs individually, you may find yourself paying more than necessary for features you don't need. HubSpot's Bundles help solve this problem by offering pre-selected combinations at a discounted price.

In addition to saving money, these bundles are also a great way to save time because you're getting all of the tools and features your teams need in order to be successful.

But does bundling really make a difference on the dollar? It does! We’ll show you:

The a la carte price of Marketing Hub Pro with the standard 2,000 contacts included costs $800/month.

The a la carte price of Sales Hub Pro has a base rate of $450/mo with the standard inclusion of 5 paid users.

The total for the two Hubs as standalone products would be:

Marketing Hub Pro - $800/mo

Sales Hub Pro - $450/mo

Total: $1,250/mo

Now, let’s check the Bundles page.

Scroll down a little bit until you see the “Calculate Your Price” section. Click “Professional”.  As you can see, the tool automatically bundles Marketing Hub Pro (2,000 contacts), Sales Hub Pro (5 paid users) ✨PLUS three more Pro level Hubs at only $1,600/mo: Service Hub Pro, CMS Hub Pro & Operations Hub Pro.

So what you’re getting with this bundle are way more tools to scale your business for a difference of only $350/mo:

Bundle - $1,600/mo (5 Pro Hubs in total)

Standalone - $1,250/mo (2 Pro Hubs only: Marketing & Sales Hub)

Difference: $350/mo

Can you purchase Operations Hub or CMS Hub at just $350 each per month? Nope! If those Hubs were purchased separately, you would be looking at CMS Hub Pro starting at $360/mo and Operations Hub Pro starting at $720/mo.

You might be saying to yourself “That’s all well and good, but with the pre-packaged bundles, now I’ve got another problem. Now I have tools that I won’t even use!” The solution? Customize and create your own bundle! With a custom bundle, you can build a bespoke package so that you’re paying only what you need, and nothing more.
